New Patients
Here at Western Dermatology, we understand that visiting a new doctor can be intimidating. We strive to make the process as simple and comfortable as possible for our new patients. Our experienced team is here to provide comprehensive, personalized care to help you achieve your treatment and skin health goals.
When you come to your appointment at Western Dermatology, please bring your referral (GP or Specialist) as well as your Medicare card if you would like us to submit your claim for you.
A referral is necessary if you wish to claim the rebate from Medicare. It also enables us to correspond back to your referring doctor regarding your care.
Please also bring the results of any relevant previous pathology tests, such as blood tests.
Clothing
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can be easily slipped on and off
Makeup and Skin lotions
To help your doctor examine your skin better, please don’t wear makeup to your consultation.
Before your Consultation
Write down any questions or concerns you have for your doctor ahead of time so all your concerns are addressed.
If you have noticed a spot on your scalp (beneath your hair), please localise it so it’s easier for the doctor to find during your skin check.
Genitals are not routinely checked, so please monitor this area carefully at home and let the doctor know if there is anything under your underwear that concerns you.
Complete your forms and ensure your medical history is up to date including any medications you take and any current or previous health issues and allergies.
Toilets
There are no toilets in our suite. The toilets are located just past the lifts as you walk down the main corridor, where the floor is tiled.
Demographics Form
All new patients will be emailed a welcome letter and demographics form to be completed before their appointments. The welcome letter will have general information to assist you before your appointment.
